Tonight in Tucson: 8:15 PM, Wildcats at home

Bear Down, Tucson. The Wildcats are back under the Friday lights, with TCU visiting Casino Del Sol Stadium on November 6, 2026. Kickoff is 8:15 PM Tucson time, Mountain Standard Time, and ESPN carries the national broadcast. Arizona enters 6–2 overall and 3–2 in the Big 12; TCU arrives 4–4 and 2–3 in conference play. The Wildcats are No. 24 in the AP poll and No. 22 in the College Football Playoff rankings, so those two numbers describe different polls.

Arizona is coming off a 34–26 road loss at Texas Tech. Tonight offers a chance to respond at home, where the Wildcats have won all four of their games this season. Our read: the record gives Arizona a reason for confidence, but TCU’s defense gives the home team a real test. The university’s Sandstorm game theme asks fans to wear white.

The main event: Arizona’s passing attack meets TCU’s defense

Arizona’s official preview lists its passing offense at 324.1 yards per game, sixth nationally. Noah Fifita and Isaiah Mizell give this matchup its most compelling offensive storyline: Mizell has accumulated 499 receiving yards across his past three games. Across the field, TCU’s official preview reports just 14.1 points allowed per game through eight games. That is the contrast worth watching: an offense that can cover ground quickly against a defense that has kept scoring down.

Our matchup read: Arizona should make TCU defend the whole field without demanding a deep completion on every series. Useful early-down gains can keep the playbook open and give Fifita options when the Horned Frogs change their coverage. Watch the protection before watching the highlight throw. If Arizona can give its quarterback a clean platform and avoid repeated third-and-long situations, it can build scoring chances without relying entirely on one spectacular play.

TCU’s route to an upset starts with field position

Our analysis: the Horned Frogs do not need to match every Arizona explosive play to make this uncomfortable. A defensive stop, a punt that pins the Wildcats deep and a drive that ends in a touchdown can change the shape of the night. TCU’s own preview notes that punter John Hoyet Chance has put 17 of his 34 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. A long field makes each offensive mistake more expensive.

That gives viewers something specific to track beyond the score. Where do Arizona’s possessions begin? Are the Wildcats earning first downs or giving the ball back after three plays? Can TCU finish its own scoring opportunities? Our view is that Arizona should resist forcing a risky throw simply because a drive begins near its own goal line. Taking the next available first down can be more valuable than trying to win the entire game on one snap.

Availability watch: Thursday’s official update

The Big 12’s Thursday update, posted November 5 at 9 PM Central, lists Arizona cornerback Jay’Vion Cole, tight end Shane King, safety Cam Chapa and defensive linemen Kevin Moorer Jr. and Ezra Funa as out. Linebacker Max Harris and running back Ismail Mahdi are questionable; offensive lineman Grayson Stovall is probable. These are availability designations, and this preview does not infer injury diagnoses from them.

For TCU, running back Jon Denman, safety Julius Simms, receiver Terry Shelton, cornerback Devondre McGee, offensive lineman Cade Bennett, receivers Keagan Cunningham and Cooper Reid, and tight end Braden Bach are out. Running back Jeremy Payne and offensive lineman Cooper Powers are probable. Those labels can change before kickoff. Check the conference’s official player-availability report for the final game-day update; probable does not mean guaranteed participation, and questionable does not mean ruled out.

Our pick: Arizona 27, TCU 20

Our editorial prediction is Arizona 27, TCU 20. This is a forecast, not a reported result or a guarantee. We give the Wildcats the edge because their passing attack and home setting provide a plausible path to enough productive possessions. TCU’s defensive results are the reason we expect Arizona to work for those points rather than assume an easy scoring night.

The first few drives should help test that pick. Arizona wants manageable third downs, clean protection and touchdowns when it gets close. TCU wants stalled possessions, favorable starting field position and pressure on the Wildcats to become impatient. If the game stays close into the fourth quarter, a turnover or a missed red-zone chance could undo a lot of otherwise good work. Bring your own final-score prediction to the table—this matchup has more to it than the two records suggest.
